Welcome to PTChem!
The aim of the Section’s activities is to facilitate the establishment and maintenance of scientific contacts among researchers working in physical chemistry and theoretical chemistry, especially in relation to organic chemistry, biochemistry, and biophysics. We also invite participation from those working in other branches of chemistry and physics. Science recognizes no boundaries, and the most interesting developments occur at the intersection of diverse scientific disciplines.
Members of the Section meet at annual schools organized since 1974. The Schools of Physical Organic Chemistry have both an educational and a scientific character, enabling participants to present their latest achievements and exchange scientific views. Since 2003, the Schools have been international meetings under the name Central European School on Physical Organic Chemistry, and in 2018 the name was changed to European Meeting on Physical Organic Chemistry (EMPOC). We strive to keep participation costs as low as possible, which allows a large number of PhD students to attend. The meetings are also an opportunity to establish and maintain scientific contacts and to gather among friends and colleagues
